Delightful dessert bars made with figs and cream cheese, perfect for impressing friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or dried figs, chopped
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and a pinch of salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped figs, reserving some for topping.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Add reserved fig pieces on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow cooling in the dish. Cut into squares and serve.
