Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup baking soda
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour and salt, stirring until a dough forms. Adjust with more flour if sticky.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes until doubled.
- Punch down the dough, divide into 8 pieces, roll into ropes, and twist into pretzel shapes.
- Boil water with baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush with melted butter.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- For the cheese dip, melt cheddar and milk in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
- Serve warm pretzels with cheese dip.
Notes
You can experiment with different cheeses for the dip or add toppings like sesame seeds on pretzels.
