Description

Delightful homemade pretzels served with a creamy cheese dip, perfect for snack time or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add flour and salt, stirring until a dough forms. Adjust with more flour if sticky.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 pieces, roll into ropes, and twist into pretzel shapes.
  6. Boil water with baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush with melted butter.
  8. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For the cheese dip, melt cheddar and milk in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
  10. Serve warm pretzels with cheese dip.

Notes

You can experiment with different cheeses for the dip or add toppings like sesame seeds on pretzels.
