Description
A delightfully moist Orange Creamsicle Cake that merges tangy orange zest with sweet flavors reminiscent of childhood ice cream popsicles, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup orange juice
- Zest of 2 oranges
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about three minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then blend in the orange juice and orange zest until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops with a spatula.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before turning them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite cream cheese or buttercream frosting infused with orange zest, slice, and serve.
Notes
Consider using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a protein boost and slight flavor change. Pair with ice cream or garnish with fresh fruit for serving.
